I am going to get rid of the other beautiful all wood guitars because I will never play them again. Ok, I was thinking about buying the MF special made D Martin guitar for 999. And, what blew me away is that the Washburn ran a close second to my new Mexican Martin. I failed to write down the model #'s of the accoustic guitars that I have, except for the Gretch, none of them are bottom of the line price wise. Yes sound is a personal thing and to be sure after playing live since the mid 50's until maybe 10 years ago my hearing is damaged. All of those beautiful well crafted guitars sucked! I didnt realize how lame they were. I know something is up with this guitar because when I go to play the same songs on my cheap Mexican Martin travel guitar, the notes sustain and it almost has more volume. What blew me away yesterday is that the Martin blew them all away. Open chords ring out great but this guitar doesn't have very much volume on fretted notes. All of the above mentioned guitars except the Gretsh are beautiful museum pieces. I have an Alvarez,2 Great Divides, Yamaha, Epiphone, and a Silvertone, Gretch Jjim Dandy and an aniversary(sp) Washburn. I had an old friend come over yesterday and got all of my accoustics out to compare to the Martin. Paracho Elite Guitars are made in the legendary mountain village of Paracho, high in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico. It sounds much better than my Martin D-15 which is "aged" which I bought from MF when they first came out, 10 years ago? I do have a collection of accoustic guitars. The plastic **************** on the sides and back mean nothing to me. Martin has has utilized manufacturing in Navojoa, Mexico for the past 25 years to create the Martin Backpacker, X-Series and Martin Guitar Strings offer. The spruce top is bookmatched perfectly, straight grain and beautiful.
Just crisp and clear and so easy to play. I have played plenty of impressive Mexi-Martins. There is nothing wrong with that and you shouldnt be shameful of owning a Mexican made Martin. If it is a DX, I would tend to think it is made in Mexico. Unplugged it gives me the "dirty boogie" sound I love. MARTIN CUSTOM X SERIES-MADE IN MEXICO-PLAYS GREAT FRO THE MONEY THIS IS A GREAT GUITAR FOR EVERY LEVEL OF PLAYER WHETHER YOU ARE PLAYING AT HOME OR ON. All that matters is that it is a great guitar and you are happy. I am amazed! Tuned it up and it is everything I have always wanted in a guitar.
